Well, it’s official, StarGate Universe SUCKS! After watching EVERY episode to-date I now feel comfortable saying that StarGate Universe officially SUCKS!
When both StarGates, SG1 and Atlantis were concealed fans were shocked and appalled… When SyFy FINALLY realized, OH SHIT, we screwed up, they decided to throw together a new show and call it StarGate Universe.
Instead of FIRING the stupid-ass writers who totally fucked up Battlestar Galactica, the peps at SyFy had another GREAT idea! Lets have them write for StarGate Universe! Now, I don’t have any official documentation of the events that I have described but I think it’s pretty obvious from the stench that reeks from the new Universe series!
If people wanted to watch Soap-Opera containing interpersonal relationships they would watch ”All My Children”!
Fans of StarGate loved the show because of the comedy mixed with the sexual frustration of it characters, oh yea, and they blew stuff up!
I subscribed, “PAID MONEY” for The SyFy Channel because they bought StarGate! SyFy’s movies are stale and all of their origional movies are cookie cutter episodes with no imagination. I think someone needs to be fired!

Yep! SGU sucks big time! I have no idea how this show ever went into full production without a group screening the pilot episode. Clearly this show belongs in the garbage! If they are going to rif-off BSG at least do a half decent job! The character interaction is just awful, story line is written by rejects from BSG and what’s with the sex! The sex scene is so unnecessary and really have no place in the show whatsoever! And what’s with the jerky camera work? I need to take dramamine just so I don’t get dizzy watching the show. I’ve watch all the episodes and I believe this truly is an awful show! A complete waste of time watching this garbage. Shame on sci-fi or sy-fy lying to stargate fans!

SOMEONE NEEDS TO BE FIRED!
The last episode is still on my DVR. I’ve tried to watch it several times but cant get past the first 10 minutes. Even my kids who were HUGE fans don’t even want to watch it anymore.
And the whole SEX scene a couple of episodes back, WTF is up with that?
This really isn’t stargate at all! Sure there’s a stargate and a spaceship but that’s pretty much what ties it to the other series. Even the cameo appearances of Anderson was completely lackluster, he looks like he doesn’t want to be bothered getting involve with a crappy show.
The sex scene is more soap opera than science fiction. I really don’t think it’s necessary at all! You know the writers are running out of ideas when they start inserting sex scene rather than thought provoking story lines.
I DVR’d the shows just in case the writers grows some brains and start composing decent stories. Someone told me that the whole season was completed already, so at least 22 episode has been shot! I can’t believe they would do that!
Brad Wright said that those who doesn’t like the show just doesn’t understand it at all.
I think he got it wrong! He and his writers doesn’t understand Stargate fans at all!
What makes SG and SGA such good science fiction show is that it actually makes you think and despite the impossibility and sometimes silly ideas, it’s thought provoking and you really get to know the people.
One of the most annoying thing about SGU is the constant “We are going to die” episodes! Come one, do something already.
They are about 7 episode into the season and the only aliens they showed was the whirling bugs and the killer slugs.
There are actors in the show like lou Diamond and Ming-Na who’s characters are so out of place! I can’t believe they were even given any parts at all.
I would really be surprised if a second season follows.
Sad to say, SGU isn’t really stargate, it more soap opera in space.
My son said the same thing about the “EVERYONE IS GOING TO DIE” theme of the show… There is no hope! What’s going to die is the show! It really very depressing.
Whenever I try to watch the show I feel the need for a anti-depresant afterwards.
I can’t even get into it enough to learn everyone’s name.. Right now we are calling them the “Scientist Guy”, the “Fat Guy” and the “Army Guys”…
And what is up with the “Scientist Guys” hair? In one episode they said they had showers and even though they are low on water…… DO THEY NOT HAVE SHAMPOO?
He make me feel greasy just watching him.. I have to go take a shower with my anti-depressant! LOL
My wifes and I were both HUGE SG1 and Especially Atlantis fans, we own most of the DVD’s from Atlantis. When we heard that it was to be cancelled. We were very dissapointed. Then we found out that there was to be a new series called Stargate Universe. We were hopeful for the new series. But after watching every stinking episode, we have come to realize that “Universe” was “Stargate” in name only. We greatly anticipate the release of the Atlantis movie. We miss the humor the commaradary the working together to overcome overwhelming odds. To the writers of Universe. Oh we get it. You did not get us!
My wife and I are huge fans of both Stargate SG1 and “Atlantis”. We own most of the DVD’s of Atlantis. We were very disappointed when SyFi Channel cancelled both shows even though both had great ratings from what I understand. When we heard that there was to be a new Stargate. We hoped it would continue with the formula of Humor,and great characters, who worked together in fntastic plots to overcome overwhelming odds, in order to protect the earth each using integrity and wit,a basic understanding of a worldview that all stargate fans had come to treasure. We watched “Universe” with great anticipation and awaited the Atlantis movie. We have now watched every stinking episode of the new darker and sexier Universe and in my and my wife’s opinion, is an abomintion. An affront to every Stargate fan. To the writers of Universe who say it’s critics don’t get it, I would say, Oh we get it! It is you who did not get us, the fans who have supported this franchise for over a decade. We do not like it and it is you who have betrayed us. We now have selfserving, self absorbed hedonistic characters who are not even worthy to remember their names. We can not wait for the Atlantis movie

SGU is more like a soap-opera! In EVERY episode all you hear is “WE ARE ALL GOING TO DIE”! I need a Prozac just to get through a single episode. It’s so depressing! And whats up with the “SEX”? My whole family used to watch SG1 and SGA. Luckly they have lost interest since SGU began so I didn’t have to send them out of the room when the SOFT PORN began but I would have if they had been there! Who would care about sex when YOU ARE ALL ABOUT TO DIE! I would imagine he would have had performance anxiety! LOL
And your right, I read the same thing, that we just don’t get it! Lets see if how long SGU lasts then let them tell us that! The MEGA HIT movies and TV series didn’t get to be so popular because of the BIG ROUND THING YOU WALK THROUGH! It became so popular, like you siad Mark, because of the wit and humor between the characters while saving the world or Atlantis against all odds.
I would like to see the writers and the people who made the decisions to cancel the other two shows publicaly flogged! I am canceling my subscription to SyFy! The only reason I purchased the PAYMORE channel in the first place was to watch SG1 after they bought it! Back then they had you by the short hairs. If you wanted to watch you had to pay extra for the channel… Well they just lost my business!

I have been a fan for many years now I am just dissapointed and sad….
I was not looking forward to warching this show. I was mourning the death of Atlantis and the commercials reminded me of Battle Star Galactica – a show I hated. Can’t stand all the doom and gloom. So I waited a few weeks until there were 3 episodes on my Dvr before watching it. I had also avoided looking up other peoples opinions – lest I become even more jaded. Hated the show within the first 5 minutes. Turned it off when it came to the people having sex up against the wall. Ya, thanks for the warning – my 7 year old was watching. She loves Stargate. Everything I loved about the SG series is now gone and replaced with all the crap i avoided with BSG and network TV (which I avoid like the plague). And wtf syfy. Do you know how stoopid that is? It’s SciFi sheesh. Series has been deleted from my recording list.
This show has gone DOWNHILL. Long time viewer and owner of all SG-1 series and SG Atlantis series. What are you guys doing? I have seen increase in sex and homosexualism in this show. There is NO need for this in this show. No longer support or purchase anymore DVD’s of this show. NO LONGER a VIEWER of SGU. Removed it from my TIVO.

verrry disappointing.. im an owner of all SG1 and atlantis DVDs personally i stopped watshing after the third episode, SGU is pathetic with childish overdone plots and bad effects, very uncharismatic characters and the drama is a mess doesn’t fit into the story line

I could only force myself to watch the first four episodes. I’m just completely disappointed with this trash. I felt like i was watching some moronic soap opera.
Also,I keep finding myself wishing that they would locate the light switches. Why the hell is every scene so dark? And it just feels wrong that most of the charachters appear to be high school-aged.
I will be shocked if this mess isn’t unceremoniously dumped at the end of the season.

lastnights episode was quite as bad as the rest of them have been. At-lest I got through this episode without feeling compalled to slit my wrists!

The show sucks big time, but the greasy scientist and the fat kid are the only characters worth merit. Well maybe the doctor too, but this show needs to move away from the human drama, which normal humans don’t act like this, and focus on the ship, new discoverys and other stuff. Sci fi shows are to escape daily life drama, we don’t need to see the crap on TV.
I hate SGU! I was hopeful before it started because they had chosen a few very good actors for key roles. But after 7 episodes, I deleted it from my dvr. And the 7th episode was the only episode I halfway enjoyed. It was the one where they all found out they were going to die and then the main Lt. military guy saved them by telling them what to do on one of those recording balls. All the previous episodes had been just plain boring to me. I couldn’t remember anyone’s name, except Eli and Dr. Rush. The short sex scenes added nothing to the show and were totally unnecessary. Then having sex using someone else’s body…what’s that all about. Should we maybe set up some boundaries with the stone use? Stupid. But the preview for the 8th episode was the straw for me. I saw they were planning to show that one character was lesbian. I get it… I just don’t need that crap crammed down my throat in a sci fi show or any show for that matter. It seems many shows are doing this and every show that does, loses me as a viewer. If I wanted to watch a drama show I would, but I tuned to STARGATE Universe because the title says to me, Science Fiction. It’s basically a bait and switch deal. “Let’s call it Stargate Universe to bring in the old crowd, but we’ll give them this drama and draw in people who like drama’s.” Way to be faithful to the fans who made the Stargate franchise what it is today. I Hate Stargate Universe. It SUCKS indeed!

The few “plants” out there like you are not enough to overwhem the virtual TIDAL WAVE of hate for this show, episode after episode, coming from the original fans of the Stargate franchise who made SG-1 and SGA a success. And the ratings prove we are right. The show has taken a dive and this is only after 10 episodes. We are talking HALF the viewership from the premiere episode to the last one “Justice”.
We dont have to guess as to the success or failure of SGU. Its a flop and the numbers dont lie.

I have been a BIG fan of Stargate since day 1. SG-1 and Atlantis were absolutely awesome BUT SGU is the biggest piece of crap ever produced. I can’t beleive it’s been picked up for another season. It’s dull, it’s boring, it really is terrible and certainly hasn’t earned the right to come under the ‘Stargate’ franchise. Where’s the aliens??? It was a huge mistake canceling Atlantis for this shit.
I have to say I agree with most of the comments on here. I have been a loyal fan to the SG1 and SGA franchise, watching every episode and owning every season on DVD.
The route they decided to go with is extremely disappointing. I realize they are trying to draw in a younger crowd, but the way they are writing this show, I doubt anyone is watching it. I’m 20 years old, in this younger crowd category, and I enjoyed everything Stargate was down to the last detail.
I knew it wouldn’t be the same right after the sex scene that everyone else appears to be mentioning. What happened to Stargate being a family show? I’m sitting there watching it with my parents, who are also Stargate fans, and then all of the sudden there’s a crude sex scene. Are you kidding me? I don’t want to sit with my family and watch sex with them on television. This was not at all what I expect from Stargate.
Where is the humor and wit that made Stargate so enjoyable to watch? You know what I miss? I miss laughing. I miss the special moments that made me smile. I miss those awesome relationships each character had with each other that I could feel through the TV screen. That made it all worth it. Having Eli say a line here or there that’s supposed to be funny doesn’t cut it.
Those of you in charge of the Stargate Franchise, good job – you’ve killed it. You’ve alienated your fan base, you’ve failed to draw in new viewers. You ruined something I loved so much. I hope you all get fired for your terrible decision, especially in cancelling Stargate Atlantis for this garbage.

People lives are already filled with drama of day-to-day life. People WENT to Stargate for a release. To get their minds off of DRAMA in thier lives and for just an hour get to laugh and be intrigued and loose the DRAMA, not have to watch someone elses.
watched 9 eps. skipped the last, owned every dvd besides season 5 of atlantis, but still watched it. I cant watch anymore universe. I think i gave the show an honest chance. 9 eps. But the meaningless sex (which appears more than once in the show) the shallow whiny characters are enough to put me off. There are some perks to it randy caryle is good, well the character was intriguing for a few eps but its getting old. and the eli charctaer are the few good things. But the story’s are weak theres no compassion or connection between the viewer and the characters, and everything ‘new’ about the show is taken from another series, battlestar galatica, even Cloverfield. I know the ep wasnt in newyork but the man eating bugs and whacky camera angles was very reminiscent to cloverfield. Overall I only pray dean devlan and roland emrland get the rights to the series again and make the 2 movies they were planning. Id rather see their take then these guys continuly dragging the series on. Donno if anyone mentioned, but SGU was renewed for a second season……

LOL. The reports ARE fictitious. The pattern has emerged clearly, and we can see whats happening here. Spin doctors, even the best of them, cannot control perceptions on the internet. There are too many sources to corroborate and when people do that, they can see that only CERTAIN entities and reviewers are writing positive things about SGU. Gateworld, MGM and affiliates, and a smattering of “plants” who go around registering at forums like this one to post a glowing comment, but not explain WHY they give those comments.
We are science fiction fans. We know what we like and what we dont like, but the advertisers just have to “trust” TPTB. This time, however, the fans are in an uproar, SGU hate sites have sprung up, ratings have TANKED to less than half (even with DVR+7). The red lights are flashing on their panels, believe me.
I too can’t understand how SGU is being advertised as having much higher ratings than SGA. I live in Australia and don’t know anyone who is saying “WOW SGU is great” its NOT, it’s the biggest load of crap ever made. TPTB have totally destroyed the Stargate name. This show is an embarassment and has not earned the right to call itself “Stargate”

I’m from europe and the sgu series have not started yet here. it will in february 2010. out of curiosity i’ve watched the first two sgu movies in english on the net. i’m a little bit inclined with the thought that the whole sgu-crap (i’ve stopped watching after about 30 minutes!) is a conspiracy-like setup to dumb down millions of fans worldwide. Don’t tell me that the producers of this ’show’ don’t knew that it will be crap from the very beginning … sorry folks, NO WAY! It’s produced that way to have the effect it now has. It’s a shame.

Why would they want to dumb down viewers? Even the commercials advertising SGU my kids knew resembled Battlestar, which also was a wonderful series that they SCREWED UP ROYALY!
I don’t really know what to think at this point. It’s obvious to me what viewer want and they are not giving it! It’s even obviouse to my teenagers. Why is it not obvious to he producers of Syfy?
I have to admit, yes it may be a conspiracy, but what do they have to gain my running off viewer? Even Syfy’s special programs suck in my opinion… They all seem like cookie cutter programming with a different twist.. That’s very tired and boaring!

I can’t stand SU. I’ve been a big fan of SG-1 and Atlantis and thought I’d give SU a chance, similar to what I did when SG-1 stood down. Holy shit. I don’t want to watch a soap opera where the plot just drags on and on. I want some action and move on from there. Jonathan Glassner and Brad Wright please bring back Stargate the way it was meant to be presented. How about a combination of the SG-1 and Atlantis crew on a new adventure and quest. If you can’t do it then let a new production crew put together some of the old cast members and lets get this thing going. I sure the hell don’t want to watch a sci-fi version of LOST. Stargate Universe SUCKS ! Its slow, boring and if I want to watch a soap opera I’ll skip work and stay home and watch “Another World” or whatever they call those stupid soaps. I hope SGU gets cancelled. I hate all the “shills” for the show that post in comment sections on websites saying how great the show is and how it’s not your daddy’s show. If the producers wanted mature content, they should watch Battlestar Galactica again and see how it’s done. It also gets me angry when I see so many disingenuous reviews trying promote the show. I can also say that I have NEVER seen so many reviews pissing all over former fans of the Stargate franchise that don’t like SGU.
I honestly feel that most people that were Stargate fans do not like this show. I understand that Syfy is trying to expand their audience with a different approach, but SGU is not working. It comes across as a cheap knock off of other shows. If the writers are going to steal the plots from other shows, at least try to blend it together decently and please get rid of the shaky cam work they stole from Battlestar Galactica. I know it’s a “dark” show, but isn’t there another color other than black that these people can wear? Is that there idea of an amplifier to the mood of the show? Ha ha, idiots!
As a long time Stargate fan I am personally offended by all the comments that ridicule SG1 and SGA fans for liking the SGU show whether it be labelled by them as childish, talking aliens that speak english or that the shows were unrealistic. So on that note, I seriously hope that Stargate Universe gets cancelled and soon. I hope the writers and producers get fired. Fingers are crossed.

I was reserved on my judgement of the show and just felt disappointed with it, but now I have been motivated to go to every forum and comment section and tell people just how much this show sucks.
The writers, producers and executives should be taken out and FLOGGED!! for this piece of crap story telling .I don’t blame the actors or directors they can only do so much with what scripts there handed. This show is truly AWFUL! Boring, boring, and….oh yeah BORING! The premise is weak, the “characters” lack CHARACTER, the plots are convoluted, the “acting” is hand wringing & overwrought….SUCKS all around. Kill it and give it a sci-fi autopsy so the network and writers can learn why it was dead on arrival!

I feel BST, or alteast the remake sucks too. I thing it’s probably the same writers.. The got fired form BSG so tehy just moved them, PROBIBLY WOMEN, over to SGU!
We don’t need shows about the tryumph of the human heart and women overcoming unfathomable odds at the hand of the bastartd men!
We need some programing like we had in the beginning.. SG1 or SGA!!!! Cut the bull shit and show us what we want to see or go bankrupt!
As someone who greatly enjoyed and respected the previous Stargate series, I must add my support to the prevailing opinion that Stargate Universe is an unmitigated disaster (which is to say more tactfully, “amazingly lame”). I understand how difficult it is to create great works (like SG1 and SGA), so I understand how much it must hurt for the former “kings of the world” to suffer this experience. But make no mistake, they are skilled enough and objective enough to know a disaster when they see it, whether they can legally admit it or not (of course they can’t).
My suggestion for the producers and writers is this. Kill off this travesty with style! With style consistent with the series so far. Dream up a story that takes the characters and situations as they are, and make them lead to the likely result — their stupidity and banality as human waste gets them all killed. End of story, end of series, back to work on a worth successor to SG1 and SGA.
They already had a perfect opportunity, but alas production leadtimes made this impossible. But I’ll tell you want I mean to help you understand what I mean by “end it with class”, and “consistent with the series so far”.
The episode that started with the ship heading towards the star was a perfect opportunity (was that “Light”?). I (and many stargate fans) immediately understood “hey, this is obviously how the ship powers itself, duh”. But none of these morons on the ship did. Which means, the characters are much dumber than average viewers! That is such a terrible formula for the main characters in a sci-fi series!
Anyway, what they should have done is acted in their typically stupid, banal, lame ways, and taken actions that CAUSED the ship to dive into the star and burn up. Yes, they should have discovered just before they fried that the ship knew exactly what it was doing (as we all knew), so they and we all understood clearly that “they deserved to die, and they did”. You can be sure [almost] all us fans would cheer and happily await your next Stargate series. We’d ALL watch a final episode like this and cheer as they wipe themselves out! Hurray!
Time to put that poor injured beast out of its misery… in a classy, appropriate way. Then figure out how to develop a new stargate series like the two great ones already in the can. Or better yet, just bring them back. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Thank god I found a site that is not run by SYFY plants. I tried to voice my opinion on the Syfy (should by SciFi) and they jump out with both barrels blazing. I listed errors in the science, canon, plot inconsistencies, stupid use of the stones, the 8th chevron improbable use and was basically whooshed off to the looney bin. Eli is the only person you can care about and he gets abused by a slut. Rush should be renamed Rash.
