I said this was going to happen, but who listens to me? Access Hollywood learned from a rep for Adam Lambert that ABC’s “Good Morning America” has canceled his live morning show concert Wednesday morning….
I said he was a little TOO over the top and it seems America agrees with me. An ABC News spokesperson said “Given his controversial live performance on the AMAs we were concerned about airing a similar concert so early in the morning.” Guess bacon and eggs doesn’t go very well with tongue…
Apparently he was scheduled originally to perform pre-taped but then it was changed to a LIVE performance but then was changed back after his AMA performance.
After his stage fopa and the resulting cancellation on “Good Morning America“, Adam called Ryan Seacrest’s radio show to discuss his hiccup. “It’s choreography, we were dancing.” he siad to Ryan about the AMA performance. “The sexuality of it kind of got a little more extreme when I got up on stage. I think adrenaline kind of took me over, and I admit it, and I’m proud of the fact that I did get a little carried away.”
“I don’t feel I owe anyone an apology for anything. I performed, it was late night TV. I did something that female performers have been doing for years, no different. It’s just the fact that I’m me and it’s a little different for people. It’s really not the big of a deal. I’m not a baby sitter. I’m a performer.” he added
ABC received around 1,500 negative comments regarding Adam’s AMA’s performance, which is considered “moderate.” Considering that only 1 in 20 people will complain after having a negative experiance, well you do the math.
I agree Adam Lambert may be one of the best performers to emerge since Elvis but he needs to make a decision. Does he want to be a gay rights activist or a performer….
Is it a double standard? Yes it is. Will he be able to be a star just having female fans that are gay or hetro women between ages 45 & 55? I don’t know but I wouldn’t discard the hetero community if he ever wants to be a super-star.
People can LOVE Adam Lamberts music, respect him as an entertainer and accept him being gay with no problem. Look at “Boy George”, “George Michael” and “Elton John” . It’s not like Adams’ a trail-blazer or the first gay entertainer by any means, but that doesn’t mean people want to watch him perform soft-core gay-porn!
Most people, at-least in America, are tolerant of others to some degree, whether it be to other religions, races or sexual orientation. But they don’t want it forced down their throats. Adam’s performance not only depicted what is seen as an undesirable alternate lifestyle but it was also “sexually charged”. People can only take one-at-a-time! And before anyone jumps down my throat about the “undesirable lifestyle” comment, even gays say “Why would we choose a lifestyle that we know is going to cause us reticule and pain. We do not choose it, it is chosen for us.”
I’m tolerant of Muslims but I’m not going to encourage my children to attend a mosque and even though I’m also tolerant of gays, I’m not going to encourage my children to watch soft-core gay porn. In fact I will restrict my self from listening to his music so not to set that kind of example to my children and I will encourage my children to do the same.
Face it, people made a young black man from Indiana that turned himself white, played with monkeys and was accused of molesting children into the biggest star of all time, so I think people are pretty tolerant of their entertainers. But there are some things people just aren’t ready for.
