Samantha Geimer, is no longer the teenage girl that Roman Polanski raped.  She has grown up, dealt with her trauma, and now just wants to be left alone.  The recent arrest of Polanski has brought the case back to the front page and reporters and paparazzi are interfering in Geimer’s life.  She is suffering from health problems and fears that she will lose her job with all of the press hounding her.

Her attorney, Lawrence Silver, urged a California appeals court to dismiss the criminal case against Roman Polanski.  The filing with the Second District Court of Appeal says that Silver has received nearly 500 media calls seeking comment since Polanski was arrested in Switzerland on Sept. 26.

Now a Hawaiian resident, Geimer, claims that she is being stalked by journalists from numerous international news outlets and has received interview requests from Larry King and Oprah Winfrey.

She is begging, “I just want to be left alone.”

Should the victim of a crime be able to decide on whether a case can be dismissed?
